john govan, s.j.
Father John Govan, sj, comes from the Loyola House retreat centre in Guelph, Ontario. Loyola House is a renewal and training centre based on Jesuit Ignatian spirituality. Through Ignatian discernment, they seek to empower both individuals and groups
within the context of their own experience. They have been training spiritual companions for over 30 years.
A few years ago some members of our Loyola House Team had the pleasure of doing a Retreat Directors Workshop at Queenswood and they talked fondly of their experience. I have never been to Queenswood, but I was looking foward to coming with another member of our Loyola House Team in September of 2010 to again facilitate a Retrerat Directors Workshop. The loss of Queenswood is my loss as well.
I am continuing as a staff member of Loyola House which is a Retreat and Training Centre and part of the Ignatius Jesuit Centre of Guelph. We are situated just north of Guelph on about 600 acres. Our property is home to a Community Shared Agriculture, many student retreats, various workshops and many different types of retreats, including the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. We are known for a welcoming spirit and invite everyone who comes to both a communal and ecological experience which leads to an inner conversion. If you wish to see for yourself what we do, please visit our website. If you wish to experience it for yourself and are interested in something listed in our calendar, please come. We frequently are blessed by the presence of people from British Columbia.
